National Trust at Croome

November 27, 2018

The National Trust at Croome, a beautiful ‘Capability’ Brown landscape, historic house and wartime museum, is striving to make Croome as accessible as possible to its visitors.

On arrival, the Visitor Centre team offer orientation to routes around the estate.   Croome’s accessibility map also shows the gradients of garden paths within the parkland and where seating is available.

Visitors can pre-book one of the free electric outdoor mobility vehicles before heading off to discover the parkland with statues, temples, follies and lake.

Wheelchair friendly shuttle buses also run between the Visitor Centre and the house throughout the day.

Accessible toilet facilities are available in the Visitor Centre including an adult changing facility (note: not a registered changing place).

The main catering facility is easily accessible at the Visitor Centre with large entrances and level entry.

The RAF museum, also easily accessible from the Visitor Centre, tells the fascinating wartime story of the secret airfield built in the grounds of Croome at which airborne radar was tested, developed and proven during the Second World War.

The historic house, Croome Court, stands proudly at the heart of the parkland and would have once proved inaccessible to many.

Our outdoor ‘stairclimber’ enables entry (weather dependent) for manual wheelchair users up the sweeping flight of steps and indoor ‘stairclimber’ gives access to three floors of the house with contemporary displays telling its eclectic history.  A small tea-room is located in the basement.

Due to building constraints, the toilet at the house is currently an outdoor accessible portaloo (note: no alarm).

Only a 10 minute drive from Junction 7 of the M5 motorway, Croome is perfect for a day out with the delightful market town of Pershore and bustling City of Worcester on its doorstep.
