Hill Care chooses Macmillan for year of fundraising

A care home group has kickstarted a year of fundraising for one of Britain’s largest cancer charities by collecting hundreds of pounds at their annual conference.

The Hill Care Group, which operates care homes across the north of England, has nominated Macmillan Cancer Support as their chosen charity for 2019/20.

After the announcement, the company collected £851.10 from raffle ticket sales at their annual conference, held at Cedar Court Hotel, in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

Managers from the group of 38 care homes attended the event and were asked to vote for the charity they want to support over the next 12 months.

The Beeches Care Home raise money for Stroke Association

CARE home staff raised hundreds of pounds for the Stroke Association and its stroke survivors and their families after helping supermarket shoppers with their packing.

Staff from The Beeches Care Home, in Stockton on Tees, organised the Stroke Association fundraiser at Tesco Extra, on Durham Road.

They spent the day on the checkouts, collecting £219.92 in donations from generous shoppers.

Helen Wood, home manager at The Beeches Care Home, on Green Lane, said:
